okay so i've run Webroot Spy Sweeper for the fifth time today along with Nortan Anti-Virus for the second time....Nortan doesnt pick up any virus at all, while Spy Sweeper picks up the virus, Quaratine's it, and when i run the spy sweeper again, the virus is STILL being picked up. why won't it go away? its Troj/Agent-CBA and Troj/ObfLdr-Gen (highest lvl virus) most likely got it from MovieForumz.com - NEVER go there!!!

i did this one thing where i turn off the system restore, restart comp, run spy sweeper again, and then turn back on system restore (someone suggested this) but it didnt work either....

help plz :( the last time this virus came i had to totally erase my computer

The first answer is garbage. Don't use it.
Try using the two programs below. They are the best in their class.
Install Super Antispyware free. Run it in safe mode. Allow it to quarantine whatever it finds.

Run the online scan for Bit Defender in normal mode. Allow it to quarantine whatever it finds.

Deleting system restore points before getting rid of the malware is just removing another chance you have to get rid of the malware. Sometimes if system restore is used it will completely remove malware. Also, sometimes removing malware will damage your system and system restore will recover it for you. Only delete system restore points AFTER you have gotten rid of the malware. I know some security companies tell you to do that but it is bad advice.

Its a complex virus... there is more than 2 files on the computer that is related to the trojan. One trojan gets erased, the other files create it again. looks like spy sweeper doesnt know the other file.
I have spy sweeper right now and i used to have this problem a while ago. I tried my best to remove another trojan, but it keeps staying there. i eventaully gave up and just formatted my computer.

Im not sure about Nortons, but avast has a setting that includes the scanning of system restore files (system volume information_restore) when you scan compressed files, and it also has the ability to remove infections from those files, you might try avast, I've used it in the past to clean sys.restore successfully.

I had that problem.
But we got a new virus scanner called AVG.
it's free and it works better than anything else.
Norton DOES NOT WORK.
Also get a cleaner.
it cleans out temp files, cookies etc.
where the viruses can hide detected or not without beign able to be removed.
Try that, if not you shud bring it into the Pros, they know what there doing. Search around for a reasonable price.

Canonical method:

1) Update antivirus, antispyware software.
2) reboot into safe mode
3) turn off restore points.
4) Run antivirus, antispyware software.
5) reboot into normal mode
6) Turn restore points back on.

The same thing happened to me (vista?). I downloaded spybot and lavasoft (both free) and it finally got ahold of it. But it took several times over a couple weeks before it would get it all.
