I have utilities to clean them out but cannot you prevent them from even getting in at all? The no. 1 culprit is when i get on Yahoo, it really accounts for 90% of spy entries in my registry. Hate to disconnect altogether from Yahoo, but it so damn annoying. Slows up the system. I would like to block the suckers. Ideas and feedback?

You might want to try installing a free spyware blocker. It will help cut down on the number of such pests.

Spyware Blocker

This is free and requires you to check for and enable updates manually once a week or so. It uses no system resources. It blocks spyware before it installs.
SpywareBlaster (inoculates, not a spyware removal tool)

1) Get a 'hardware' firewall (one that's built into your ADSL Router) ands set to to 'stealth' mode (ignore all access except Internet NAT responses)
2) Install Zone Alarm - only allow your browser (Firefox) & WGA to 'connect automatically' to the Internet ..
3) Install anti-virus eg AVG etc.
4) Switch to Firefox, install Java Script blocker install anti-ads
5) STOP downloading and installing 'stuff' from the internet
6) DON'T use 'Outlook' (well known automatic virus spreading s/w) and STOP CLICKING ON LINKS IN EMAILS

After that you should be 'reasonably' safe
