My HP laptop came with Norton Internet Security (Symantec Corporation).
It has expired today.
I purchased McAfee Virus Scanner.

Do I need to remove the Norton before installing the McAfee?

Yes you do need to remove and uninstall one before loading another. I personally would go with AVG anti-virus ...it's free and always updates itself... I trust it more than Norton or McAfee put together...but to each their own...

Enjoy !

Yes. You should remove the Norton before installing the McAfee. It is never recommended to have two virus programs running on a PC. They will fight each other and cause all kinds of problems.

Yes, remove the first before installing the second. It's a bad idea to have two of these anti-virus/anti-spyware utility programs running at the same time. They get in each other's way.

You should reboot after uninstalling the first and before installing the second. Also, remember that your computer is more vulnerable until the second program is installed, so don't connect to the Internet if you don't have to.

Yes, then reboot, then install your new anti-virus, and use AVG, it's about the best, and it's free

Yes. Make sure to do a file search for any files left after the uninstall.

I totally agree with Pixie Dust. Use AVG which is free. AVG also uses less resources.

you need to remove it.. because you can only put one antivirus in your pc/laptop... otherwise your pc will take 15-30 minutes to boot up because both antivirus are running realtime.. you can also put 2 anti-spyware in your pc.
