This is exactly what happened to me this weekend. One of my 2 kids might have opened something or downloaded something (my 1st child is notorious on downloading music), next thing all these anti-virus, anti-spyware, dating site pop-ups.... "download the best selling AV software"..... "your computer is infected by Trojan backdoor virus".....tens after tens of pop-ups, Ran my AV and anti-spyware 3x and still getting those same pop ups, they've even stole my IE everytime I clicked on it, it goes to some anti-virus, anti-spyware site. Slowed down my internet connection. Formatted my C drive and reinstalled everything. So, right now, my computer is just as new as like the day I took it home from the store 3 yrs ago. I might have lost some files (nothing important anyways) but I also lost a bloody virus, worm. It was my very first infection in my 8 yrs of computer life.

Are you not running anti Virus software.
Download Free AVG. I use it and have never had a problem, as it will not let you down load viruses. It will always get rid of them, if they are in anything that has an attachment with virus in.
http://free.grisoft.com/
Download it and get rid of the worm.

Get rid of it through a virus and spyware scan..If its really bad..Hopefully you have back up of your computer ...and you might have to start all over..Weve had to do that...Thats why we bought pcCillon and Norton..to prevent those..they scan once every so often for spyware/etc..You can also set the time on when they scan ...Ours is set up to always scan stuff like cookies, worms, etc..Whatever programs you installed recently take them off and start all over...Download spybot search and destroy and Ad-Aware.. Good luck to ya...Similar has happened to my husband and I...It can be pretty scary..;(( so do what he suggested and youll be K...God bless..;)

Get spybot from link below.
Install, then if it says so update to latest version and then scan and then fix issues.
If this doe'snt work 1st time....
Start from Safe Mode.
It sounds like you're a beginer so..
Turn pc off and then on again..as pc is starting keep pressing F8,you'll get to a screen full of options.
Select "safe mode with no networking".
Windows will start in safe mode then run spybot.
Restart and if it dont start in normal mode(some pcs dont)..then back to the safe mode select screen and select "start windows in normal mode".

My sympathy there
a lot of very good answers there may l suggest that you do not run to many anti virus programmes on your PC as l found they conflict. l use Avira complete and a nice programme called CCleaner which cleans and removes a lot of rubbish left behind from your temp folders and also fixes minor tweaks both free downloads
