I recently bought a laptop (Windows Vista Home Premium) that came with McAfee Internet suite. Everything works fine but the only problem is the firewall, if I leave it on like it should be, I am unable to to connect to my wireless DSL connection. Is there any way to connect w/out turning my firewall off? I feel very vulnerable w/out a firewall since I've had petty bad things happening to previous computers.

Any help would be gladly accepted.

If somebody called bum_tn007@hotmail.com adds you dont accept it because its a hacker. Tell every one on your list because if somebody on your list adds them you get them on your list. He will have access to your IP computer address. So copy & paste this message to every one AND fast

my computer is part of a LAN. They just turned off the firewall & auto updates. now there's no firewall at all in every pc. The ISP provider did it without any explanation. i am not sure if this is normal here in Thailand. Can they control incoming/outgoing data from each pc to their server?

My computer is password protected. I'm mainly looking for programs that tell me at least if someone tried turning on my computer, at most if someone tried logging on but kept entering the wrong password. If I can already access that info on my computer anyways could someone tell me how?

I asked a question yesterday but i can't add to it cuz of the problem. Well like i said in the other question. When i try to open my security center or system restore or the search in the start menu the windows pop up but there is just a blank screen. And on websites i can click on links but they don't work. (Like on myspace i can only see the first pages of bulletins and friends cuz the links don't work). When i mouse over a link though it says something about JAVASCRIPT instead of the webpage link. O and the download links on security sites aren't there cuz of the problem so i can't download any type of new software.

Norton would have an alert the services.exe is trying to access the internet. If I allow it, I would receive an alert that Norton detected a risk and sometime a virus(claims to have deleted it). It happens everytime since a few days ago. I ran a full scan and nothing showed up. Is it something in the registry? Please help!

By the way, I cannot open msconfig, regedit, or things like that... except in safemode.

If one has a power-on password set in one's BIOS, is there a finite number of times you can attempt to enter it, and get it wrong, before it destroys the computer somehow, or can you attempt infinitely many times?

i work at a computer repair buissness and i have been coming across some kind of virus or hijacker. what it does is internet explorer will open up (by its self) and say i have viruses and recomend i download from them. also when i open internet explorer it does not go to my home page or to the shortcut link rather, a web site loads with blue and red are the main colors and it sez on the top right corner of the page " Internet Security" and a bunch of bull about "System security status: warning" and a bunch of links to download a free program that will fix the problem.. whoot! also after the site loads a windows pop up box comes on screen and sez "warning W32.Myzor.FK@yf is a virus that infects files with .exe .....blah blah"
im sure some people know what im talking about so if you know a guide or just know about this browser hijacker or w/e it is it be great to be able to know how to remove it. norten or mcAfee cant seem to remove it once its on. thanx for the help!!

I tried to log in (I have Windows 2000) to my computer and got a message that someone else was logged in under my username. I had to log in under administrator to be able to log on. When I looked at the computer usage, I noticed the space was drastically decreasing by the second. I unhooked from the internet and it stopped. I couldn't find what was put on my computer. I cleaned out all the internet files, ran the antivirus and deleted a lot of programs to regain a portion of the space. The next day (after my computer was NOT used by me) I noticed that all my space was gone again. How do I get it back? I have DSL and it stays on during the day when I am not home and I am afraid that someone is using my computer to store files or something, but I can't find them. How do I find the files?
