im not able to open msn messenger and hotmail thanks to the virus called hackertool.is it a virus or someone has hacked my pc. also what can i do to remove it?

My PC is infected with a virus that has attacked the masr boot record and encryped it. The virus is called Stealth_boot .C. It is nasty. Applications are locked up and refuse to open. I cannot back up my last bits of information. I can't disifect the PC with McAfee's antivirus utlity. Do I have to get a whole new hard drive?

I got a message that someone my username was already in use even though I wasn't logged on. I changed usernames and passwords, but every since then my space on my hard drive keeps disappearing even after I took all the programs, pictures, music, etc. I also cleaned out unnecessary files. I have very little left on the computer, but my space keeps showing that there is very little left. How do I find out where all these files are that someone must've put on there???? Is there a way to clean it out and keep them from doing it again?

Recently, there have been strange searches in my google toolbar I never searched for. Then last night I tried to run anti-spyware software and I kept getting a message that something/someone was stopping the software from running. Could it be a hacker who is doing these searches?

My computer keeps just shutting down abruptly. It switches itself off and back on again. Windows media centre 2005. Zone Alarm protection.

Any ideas? Ive ran spybot and Lavasoft Ad-aware.

Im giving my computer to my DTR and would like to uninstall things on it that dont pertain to her. I know about add/remove programs and such. But like i have Outlook express, is it as simple as just deleting my address book and all the folders etc?? Id like the computer to be fresh for her without all my personal info and things i downloaded. what all else is there or can i do to clean the slate on my computer??

I have had no problem with pop ups...then all of a sudden when i use firefox and go to a website a pop up opens with internet explorer so i uninstalled internet explorer and it still is happening how can i stop this..i have ad-aware and avg anti virus...like i said i had no problems then all of a sudden..
