My PC is infected with a virus that has attacked the masr boot record and encryped it. The virus is called Stealth_boot .C. It is nasty. Applications are locked up and refuse to open. I cannot back up my last bits of information. I can't disifect the PC with McAfee's antivirus utlity. Do I have to get a whole new hard drive?

Scan the PC with a standard antivirus. I think that you have to download a standard antivirus software. . I have come across a website that gives a brief study on computer viruses and their removal.
