yes it is a scam to get your money. there was nothing wrong with your system. only thing was maybe spyware. this is where the pop-up came from. it is an ad. if you ever get something like this again click on the lil red X to get rid of the window. your viral program is the only thing that will report there is a problem in your computer, nothing else will. you'll also want to get a spyware program installed on your computer also such as spybot search and destroy.

There are many sites that say you are being infected with a virus. You can easily upload free versions of F-Prot to clean out viruses and I've found that having a good anti-virus program such as F-Prot or AVG 7.0 stops the virus. Ad-Aware is another good program to get rid of the sites who like to scare you into believing you are infected. All of these are free. Lavasoft.com offers Ad-aware personal edition at no cost. It clears the advertisements from your system. In a nutshell you are being scammed. Put F-Prot or other anti-viral system you trust on your computer as well as ad-aware and you're safe. The guys who give you those pop ups are the ones who are hitting you with advertisements to scare you.

ono......youve got a virus now that promts you to get a antivirus.....hehe...my computer had it to at one time so dont geel bad. You need to remove and stopthat antivirus software and go to the store and buy some norton antivirus software to prevent furture breakouts. Secondly, you need to do a virus scan with the norton to make sure its gone! Because the software you bought was based from a virus which they released you need to do an indept scan. My fiancee is a computer nerd and he went in and wiped out my computer and reinstalled everything, because that one virus was the tip of the ice berg. When it was all said and done he was able to erase over 300 computer spyware/ viruses on my computer- all cause i had 1 measly virus that started it all. That antivirus software is possibly a spyware. thats why you must remove it. You really need to wipe everything clean. Backup anything important and reinstall everything! You may need a geeksquad from bestbuy if you dont know a local geek/ nerd.

I worked on a computer last week that had pest on it. yes its a scam. remove it. it will get worse and require you to upgrade to keep getting rid of thier fake viruses. if your going to spend money, get norton. dont never follow those pop up ads. if this is from windows messenger service, say it and i will tell you how to stop it.......................yes there are some free antivirus protection but free means beta which means its not full proof. norton is the best. its not free but will save in the long run

Pest Trap. It's installed by a SmitFraud Trojan. You must remove the Smitfraud for Pest Trap to be removed. These two sites are free and remove Pest Trap.

Yes, that was a scam!!

OK. Good, free, award-winning security software would be:

ClamWin (anit-virus)
Avast! (anit-virus)
ZoneAlarm (firewall)
SpyBot: Search & Destroy (anti-spyware)

I have my PC protected with these programs. Download them at www.download.com That will clean up your computer!

Good Luck!

Yes , I think you are in a scam. Invest in a known virus blocker such as Norton, etc. and go from there.
