Security - January 2007

I was advised to delete a program in order to download a security update. I went to add/delete and deleted, thinking I could just "add" it back when I was done. It was gone!! How do I find and reinstall?

Just joined www.helloworld.com/winters and I get to see and hear my grandchild, live in NY. It is great, a few bugs to work out, but it's been a great experience. I was sent a video email joke or something, from a trusted friend but cannot play it. He advises to lower firewall settings and spam blockers. I do not know how to do that? I tried "security settings" and "added" it and a "trusted site." But that did not work. Does anyone know how?

the computer is going so slow and when i installed one anti-virus(avg) i didn't remove the other(norton). now the computer is really really slow and when i control panel , add/remove software it couldnt find the files is there any other way off getting one of them off and is that the only damage its doing to the computer? please help

AVG Free Edition
Ad Aware
Spybot Search and Destroy
Avast! Antivirus
Spysweeper

I think I may have a bit too much... which ones would you say I should get rid of? Which ones are the better ones?

I'm so confused!

i went to fix a friends computer yesterday,and everytime i tried to do something i kept getting an "Intruder Alert Message".About 50 At a time.then a box kept popping up telling me to download "Norton Anti Roaches",and then the computer shut off and wouldnt come back on.so i opened the tower to see what could be wrong,and hundreds of roaches came flying out.Could this have been the problem?Can software detect roaches in the Tower?Where Can I get her a Valid Copy Of Norton AntiRoaches?I

Ihave pblem with my pc..virus im sure.On my yahoo home page where the main advert is ment to b all I see is a solid red box and the same on other sites.
What is the best thing to safely scan my pc for virus quickly and remove anything infected?
I'm using the antivirus my ISP gave me along with my BB.

Someone sent me a blank email that I had to download something to read it and my foolish self did just that. All of the sudden, my computer shut down and a blue screen came up telling me that Physical Memory Dump Complete.

I then manually shut off my PC and when it came back, everything was messed up so I ran my anti virus program and it found a Trojan worm it was able to block. Although, my computer now keeps going to that blue screen name every 25 minutes or so and I don't know how to stop it.

Is there anyone out there who knows about this virus or whatever it is and can help me get rid of it?
