Chances are that you still have some portion of Norton running. Look down at the lower right of your task bar and find an icon for Norton. Right click on that icon and choose Disable or Exit. Once that's done, then go to the Control Panel and Add/Remove Programs, and click on the entry for Norton's Anti-Virus. Choose Remove. That ought to do it.

Howdy!:
There's 2 options, 1 much easier than the other.
1 - you can download Malwarebytes, there's a free version, it might get rid of it.
2 - you can reformat and reinstall the os.
Reboot in safe mode and rescan it with powerful antivirus.
Your antivirus cannot remove a live process and when you go into safe mode the virus does not get loaded into memory.

Have a good day

If add remove programs can't get rid of norton it's because some of the files that were needed were erased. What you can do is intall norton again so you can finally uninstall it. I know it sounds lengthy but it will work.

You can also erase the directory where Norton is stored and then download system mechanic from www.iolo.com

You can then use total system care to get rid of all the registry references automatically for you so there are no longer any conflicts.
