Security - January 2007

Norton says i am not protected agaisnt one rapidly spreading threat called a trojan. I already have zonealarm firewall, anit vir guard, spybot,spyewablaster and update my norton at various sites from time to time. i just dont' renew my subscription because its 50 bucks every time... The trojan is not in my computer, norton just says that its " a threat in the internet"...

We just set up high-speed internet service. We have upgraded to the most recent XP Service Pack, which included a firewall. We are also set up to get automatic updates to XP as they become available. If you have any freeware firewall suggestions, please pass them along. Thanks!

Symantec AVF replaced the messege body with this text message. original text contained prohibited content and was deleted. the address was a navy.mil wgat is AVF? is this bad?

i have some type of virus i down loaded avert and spybot but it wont get rid of it it was a worm or a trojan or both it opened a window and said to put in chest but when i do that it another window opens and says it can't locate file i don't know much about computers i just got one in november so anyone who can help please do ... heres what the virus does ant any time a window pops up says i am doing something illegal and will shut down the whole computer but with in a few minutes the computer will restart and go directly to my internet home page with out me even turning it on or clicking the internet icon if i even get close to my mail all hell breaks loose and the internet will open and shut down numerous times so please help please please???????

I have a virus on my computer and I know it is my fault. I tried to download something I shouldn't have and it had me format it into the system32 file--STUPID, I KNOW!! Anyhow, It is attached to that file and it has ruined my entire laptop!

Anyhow, I tried to just reinstall windows (and the disk drives) but it warns it saves all your material when it reinstalls- so after I did all that- I see that the virus is STILL there.

I am starting to think the only way to get rid of it, is to completely remove windows from my computer and clean the hard drive and reinstall.

I don't know how to do that. Can someone help me to do that? Or at least tell me what else can be done (besides another freaking virus scan)??

Maybe I should delete those folders/files (in the system 32 folder) and then do the reinstall of windows??? I am at a loss now... HELP! please!

My school has become very strict with blocking multitudes of internet sites from access by students. Whenever I even try to google for Proxy site unblockers it's blocked.... is there any way to unblock these internet sites through command prompt? Or is there possibly a proxy site that isn't blocked by ECISD?

I have tried www.freeandbest.net/foryou/ which previously worked but now is also blocked... any other good suggestions?

I have done lots of scans and it won't detect it. I tried Norton,AVG,Avast. I phoned my broadband supplier who said that I had a trojan as I can log on in Safe mode netowrking with reasonable connections. But on normal log on it disconnects every2 seconds

Just the other day I noticed that Norton anitvirus was showing that there was a problem with my computer. The Norton icon was flashing red. I could not get Norton to open and fix the problem, so I shut down my computer. Now I cant get the computer on! Cant even start the unit in safe mode! The computer is 4 years old, but still, until yesterday, ran great, with out any problems. Now I dont know what to do next. Anyone out there and any ideas?
