You have to unblock the port that the email program uses.

You need to get a new ISP if they told you to turn off the Firewall because if that is off your computer will get hit by viruses and dont even put it on web pages because people will back track you IP address and give you a viruse...

THAT FIREWALL NEEDS TO BE ON

but i can't tell you why your not getting e-mail it might be that your windows is not letting it use the internet you are going to have to go in to the firewall and unblock it

Install a Separate Firewall With something Like Norton's, unless your Router has a Firewall. It was probably the case you have Two Firewalls. MS's Firewall is not good, but you do need a Firewall, so I am making the big assumption that you likely do have one. Just set the Firewall setup not to notify you of the "problem".

You need to find out which port needs to be open for your email, then adjust your windows firewall accordingly.

well it sounds like your isp doesn't work with xp's firewall. you can always use another firewall like the one that comes with mcafee. most anti-virus software has some kind of blocking feature similar to a firewall. that is your best option. good luck!

The problem ISNT the firewall. You have a virus in the hard drive.
You need to do a virus scan right away. Please make sure that no other dial-up connections have been added to ure computer.
Just run a virus scan right away.
