I have not paid for antivirus software in about 2 years. My suggestion is why pay for it when you can get it for free. Go to www.majorgeeks.com click on Anti-Virus, and look for AVG Free Anti-Virus. This is a totaly legal free Anti-Virus for home users. If you run a buisness with your computer or use it for any other kind of buisness purpose, you must go out an purchase an Anti-Virus. As far as that goes, the best Pay Anti-Virus for the Money is Norton, all though AVG does just as good of a job of keeping their virus database up to date, as far as support to remove a Virus on a corporate level Norton is the Best. Hope this helps you out, remember, why pay for it if you don't have to!

If you have to ask this question, then you already know the answer. Anytime you have to pay as much as you pay for Norton, to get as little as you get, it isn't worth it. Like one answerer said, I've used Avast for 3+ years and wouldn't be without it. Avast along with SpyBot, Ad-Aware and a good firewall is all you really need. And no, Norton can't eliminate trojans, but SpyBot and Ad-Aware can and do.

nortan is a software worth renewing. this is because it is a the best rated software for protection for threats. nortan effectively protects from threats.

when nortan says a threat in the Internet. this is warning you. basically, you have to run a full system scan, as then it shall detect the Trojan and shall quarantine it then delete it.

also another reason why you should renew it is because then all of the virus definitions are then also updated. this is essential as the viruses out there are radially growing.

I would go with AVG. It's free and it works great! The website that I have included will even download and install the program for you free of charge via remote control over the Internet. It's a free tech support site.

In my personal experience, Norton was not able to detect viruses that other free anti-virus software does. I've been using avast! for years without any trouble. It's free to home users. You can also schedule a boot-time scan with avast which will scan your system prior to Windows loading up. I would also recommend ad-aware in addition to your anti virus software to keep your system clean. They're both free. Avast also offers a worm remover for trojans and such that you can run in conjunction with any anti-virus software.

to be you will need to keep the anti-virus up todate and do full scans
a alert to a problem isnt a bad thing its a warning on what to watch out for so you're not infected
