They both suck, but if I had to choose one it would be McAfee.
Here's a list of free ones http://www.basicspywaretips.com/freevirusremovaltool.html and to protect your info get a couple antispyware programs also

I have to agree with everyone else. Norton is a huge resource hog and will make your computer run slower. McAfee is just a little better.

I use AVG. Not a huge resource hog and free for home users:

Actually both Antivirus are resource hogs and brings your CPU down to its knees. It takes a lot of time booting up. Try Bitdefender Antivirus v10. Way much better virus detection and improves your PC speed. It updates every 2 hours as opposed to Norton, which updates once a week only.

Out of the two, McAfee. Norton is too system intrusive and only updates weekly. McAfee is not much better as it uses way too many resources.

Go with Kapersky.

Neither are that great, especially because Norton is a resource hog (I haven't had much experience with McAfee). My personal favorite is avast (it's free).

what type of computing gadget, i love Norton's or Webroot antivirus with secret agent ware. i got here across Norton's antivirus through itself, (omit the firewall & internet protection crap as Symantec's stuff like it is valueless besides) yet when purely antivirus is ran through itself it does no longer sluggish me down. Webroot would sluggish you down a touch more suitable because it type of feels to take invariably to load on bootup. Afterboot up, that is positive for me.

In my experience McAfee works better. Norton can actually damage your computer if it's run improperly (not updated constantly)...

Out of the two Norton. But basically both of them are crap.

Actually both of them are horrible. I personally use Avast! (which is free @ avast.com). If you're looking to buy one I would go with Panda.
