Go to MSconfig under Start --> Run. Follow the tabs to Services and Startup. I reccomend to DISABLE ALL ITEMS UNDER STARTUP. Then reboot your system and do a scan. Otherwise, slave the drive up to another machine and scan it as a slave.

Yup... do a complete format of your hard drive. Insert the Windows XP cd installer into your CD ROM drive and format your C drive. Reinstall everything. Do not use the back up data since it might be infected also. Just start from scratch and forget about your old files.
That's it... good luck...

Uninstalling and installing windows is not going to do anything. The virus isn't in windows, so why are you doing that?? Just locate where the virus is and delete the files.

I would say to wipe your HD. Eneter setup with your Windows CD, delete your partition(s), format the drive(s) in NTFS mode.
That should get rid of anything malicious on your computer.

Reformat the hard drive and load Windows again. When you re-install Windows, choose the option to reformat the partition at the beginning.

First try a "System Restore" to an earlier date.
Go to "Start" -
Then up to "All Programs" -
Up to "Accessories" -
Over & down to "System Tools" -
Over & down to "System Restore" and clck on it.
Follow the promps thereafter to an earlier date, (one that you know is before you feel you acquired the virus!).
If this doesn't work, you'll have to reformat your hard drive and start fresh!
