http://ccleaner.com go for 7passes in the cleaning option
also on the above site is another free program (beta) its called recuver,it try's to resuscitate deleted files but its also a good way of finding out what your pc has deleted in the past but can still recover, just press scan on it,if u want to recuva a file tick its checkbox and click on recover file if not then look around see whats there and press or click on the top right X and no action will be taken that visit or that time, both very very good stable programs and free (no spy or virusware)no time limitations.u can donate if u want to the writers of these programs via paypal(optional)which i will do soon,i would not be without ccleaner at all
its very useful and very easy to use.but for total wiping and totally ridding HDD of all of the history then u will have to re-install the OS from scratch or start.or purchase a specialised programme from pc centres that erases fully the hdd when u want to throw it away or resell it

You can't. It's impossible. To explain this in the most simple way possible when you delete something, your computer doesn't erase it, it "forgets" where it is so it can't find it again. Fortunately the only people who have the stuff to make your hard drive "remember" are the cops and the military. (And overeager computer geeks) HOWEVER, if you want to delete a file so your computer erases it permanently use this program: http://www.heidi.ie/eraser/ Hope this helps.

Look at a program like Window Washer from WebRoot. You can "bleach" the wash so that the traces are really gone.

the only ways that i know of are to completely reformat your hard drive aka it deletes EVERYTHING....or get into your hard drive and manually delete the traces.....however in order to do this you have to be very familiar with programming.
