I have Trend Micro and Trend Micro hasn't detected anything. I keep doing full scans and everything. But in the tray on my desktop, it says "Your Computer Is Infected" and it says Windows has detected Spyware. But how do I get rid of it when nothing is being detected by the scan?

Please do not use big computer words when helping me because I do not know much about this kind of thing. LOL. Thanks.

Please read carefully.
I want my new laptop to be completely private. You know how you can go to My Documents and open up other users' folders? Well, I don't want that to happen. In case someone wants to have their own desktop on my computer (like my sister), I don't want them to be able to open my folders from their documents folder. I know I can set a password for my desktop, and I will do that, but that doesn't solve the other problem. Is there any way to prevent access to those folders from other desktops?

When connecting to internet I used to just go to start, press connections and press connect. Last year I was able to just hit icon on screen. Wile trying to log-in to my mail, a window appears saying I am leaving a secure site and others will be able to read it.

I bought McAfee VirusScan Plus last night but a friend who I asked for advice installing it said (emphatically) not to install it at all.

He said that it is highly pervasive, only moderately effective, impossible to uninstall and pretty much the worst virus protection software on the market.

His is but one opinion though ..

When turn on th PC, Norton warns me if i want to use Norton security or Windows firewall. what does this means? is that mean by having firewall on, Norton is disabled? why can't i have both? please explain...THANKS ALOT

Pbls with my comp that task magr,command prompt, reg editor and msconfig are disabled by some running viruses and inhibit any instal.. of antivirus.?
restorion in safe mode all thing are of no use.
viruses inhibit even opening of a folder which has antivirus content.
one option is to format and reinstallation but any other option
urgent plz. write about any software which enable even taskmanager.

We rarely turn our computer off but recently, when I sit down and use the computer, mostly for email and surfing general info, I have this big blue screen that says Microsoft Windows XP on one side and Compaq Owner on the right side. Underneath Compaq Owner it always notes there is one program running. Since I don't have any programs running that mystified and irritated me so I asked a friend who knows a bit more than me and he said for me to hit control, alt, delete and it would tell me what program was running. I do that and it says, "Compaq connection agent", so then I right click on it and delete it but it always comes back, I guess whenever I log on the internet? Anyway, my question is who is this "Compaq connection agent" and do I need it for any reason and if not how do I permanently get rid of it. Irritates me when I get a message telling me that other people are logged on to my computer whenever I re-start. Thanks.

Where can i notify someone, that can kick some tail, about an e-mail i got from Nigeria requesting my name, banking info,drivers license info etc....this came to me on
MSN e-mail and i have no faith that MSN will do anything...is there some other entity that deals with this

my avg scan came up clean, but it did for a week when I noticed the last trojan. So I did a file/program find on it and there is two one for the niveda sound card and one running out of windows?
Is that normal?

I reboot everyday and check what is running it's never showed up before. No one but me downloads or plays with computer settings.
Is it normal for one to be running out of windows or is this something fishy?

What is it?
It's turning up on start-up and it never has before. A google search brings up conflicting information, with some sating it's part of a graphic card and others saing it's a agoabot or a trojan. Any thoughts?
