I keep getting small alerts from "messenger service" that say "Windows has found 55 Critical System Errors", that I need to download an update from http://www.regfixit.com, and that not doing so might result in system failure. This makes no sense to me because I just reinstalled Windows XP on my computer last night! Are these alerts legitimate, and if not, how do I get rid of them?

We are 2 friends with separate comps. One has IE 6, the other has IE 7. Both have crashed repeatedly since October. Problem seems to be related to add-ons. Reportedly, problem is widespread.

The official suggestion from microsoft is to "disable all 3rd party browser extensions." Problem is, this takes down all add-ons & plug-ins and there are some we like and want to continue using.

The only thing I can think of is to leave 3rd party browser extensions enabled and then to disable all individual add-ons except one, by hand. Then see if that one is causing the problem. If not, re-enable one more and see. And so on. Eventually this should identify the add-on or add-ons that cause the problem.

This procedure is very tedious. Does anyone have any other suggestions. All would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

My computer has suddenly slowed down for no apparent reason. I have run several virus scans and nothing has been detected, but I have a feeling I have been infected with spyware---again.

Windows XP is the operating system. I am aware of how to review the history. But how does one view the personal email addresses that have been used from the personal computer?

When I boot my PC up, a pop up appears with the open file security warning. NTOS.EXE is the file and I suspect it's a malware program. I just cancel the install option each time but would like to get ride of it. Has anyone encountered this before?

I need to make my files secure. My PC only has one user account, everyone in the household needs it, but I've got my personal documents, I'd like to make them accessible only by me. How do I do this?

I don't want to create a password for my account and I don't want to create another user account: if I have to in order to protect my files, instruct me on the way to do this.

Thanks!!!!!!!!!
