This may simply mean that the sender does not have Anti-virus installed and neither does the Email server. Some email servers (like private one you@yourcompany.com) may not have Anti-virus installed either. In this extremely unlikely case in which none of the parties (sender->his/her server->your server) have any Anti-virus with email scanner, then the Mail is delivered to you without scanning for potential viruses. However your Antivirus may seem this as a threat.
If this is the case then it does not NECESSARILY mean that the attachment/email is infected. To be on the safe side, download the attachment but DO NOT OPEN IT. First scan it with your antivirus program, if all OK then go ahead. More than likely it should be safe as it appears to be only a text file. But you know as they say...
better safe than.....
Have a good day

Don't open it. Usually an attached file without protection has a virus the best thing to do is to get a virus program and scan it, You could get one at downloads.com I recommend AVG Free. Scan it and if it doesnt havea virus take it in but if it does use AVG and heal it. Usually viruses on email attachemnts are serious. More likely if it does have a virus it will corrupt your hard drive and spread. The only way to fix that is to reformat the computer which takes and hours and you lose all your files.

It could vastly depend. It may have been the outgoing mail server of the person that sent it to you stating that for whatever reason it was unable to scan the email for Virri. However the only *real* reccomendation I could give you is to scan the file with your own antivirus protection.

As with any attachment, DO NOT OPEN IT if you do not know the sender. If you DO know, are you willing to trust their computer is virus free? If you really want to open it, try right-clicking on the attachment and see if your AV will scan it before you open it.

Have your anti virus program scan the photo before you open it up - just to make sure it is clean.

I suggest that you scan all your incoming files using your antivirus. If you need, insatll a standard antivirus soft ware such as Norton, AVG , Avast ( free antivirus software and Ad-aware, Ewido ( free spyware removers). You can download free softwares at
http://fixit.in/antivirus.html and http://fixit.in/spywareremover.html

This just means that the file that you received has not been scanned for viruses. It does not mean that the file is infected, just that it is unknown.
