We are 2 friends with separate comps. One has IE 6, the other has IE 7. Both have crashed repeatedly since October. Problem seems to be related to add-ons. Reportedly, problem is widespread.
The official suggestion from microsoft is to "disable all 3rd party browser extensions." Problem is, this takes down all add-ons & plug-ins and there are some we like and want to continue using.
The only thing I can think of is to leave 3rd party browser extensions enabled and then to disable all individual add-ons except one, by hand. Then see if that one is causing the problem. If not, re-enable one more and see. And so on. Eventually this should identify the add-on or add-ons that cause the problem.
This procedure is very tedious. Does anyone have any other suggestions. All would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
