I bought McAfee VirusScan Plus last night but a friend who I asked for advice installing it said (emphatically) not to install it at all.

He said that it is highly pervasive, only moderately effective, impossible to uninstall and pretty much the worst virus protection software on the market.

His is but one opinion though ..

McAfee is one of the better paid for antivirus software programs out there. Its as effective as free options but the interface is better and easier to use.

I used it on my old computer as it came with my broadband package and it was easy enough to uninstall once my subscription had ran out. Your friends misleading you there.

And like someone said before, its not a system hog like Norton.

The combination I use is AVG, Zonealarm, and Spyware doctor. Of which only Spyware doctor is paid for. Also AVG offer free spyware protection.

I totally rely on this program. It is fairly cheap, does what I need, and does not slow your computer down as some other *cough* Norton* programs will. Also the uninstall is simple and not impossible.

Sorry but your friend may be mistaken this time.

lol no... mcaffe and symantec are the two top antivirus companies in the world... they will be first to know when a virus attacks and have the cure before all the other companies... keep it or go with symantec norton antivirus.

I agree with him...McAfee and Norton are both very cumbersome and don't really work that well. I use Trend PC-Cillin and it works great for me. If you want a FREE antivirus, use AVG...I recommend it to everyone.
