Ignore him, or if you have some spare time, send confusing and/or childish responses, and after a few exchanges, tell him you keep your money under your mattress.

I believe the answer will be that there is no good solution. The people are located in Nigeria and there isn't much that the US or anyone else can or will do against them. Basically, people are on their own when it comes to this.

The best solution I have seen is to waste the time of the spammers. It requires setting up an email account and sending inquiring emails back to the spammers, using only fake information. If enough people did this, the spammers wouldn't be able to identify the "good" information from the bad.

And definitely never send any money by Western Union or similar means to anyone. My brother has already been scammed out of $1200 this month, thinking he was getting a great deal.

no there is nothing u can do.the FBI is currently investigating hundreds of these scams.Don't bother calling them about it cus they will kinda laugh and tell u the same thing i just said.
The problem is that nigeria is not in the united states and thus we don't have the right to further investigate these crimes beyond the usa.. stay away from theses e-mail scams...remember your bank will never call u and ask for this kind of info over the phone EVER...same with your credit card company...be carefull
