When connecting to internet I used to just go to start, press connections and press connect. Last year I was able to just hit icon on screen. Wile trying to log-in to my mail, a window appears saying I am leaving a secure site and others will be able to read it.

That's normal. Just turn off that notification.

You log in from a secure page, but it's switched to an insecure page once you're logged in. Maintaining a secure session costs far too much for use on a free or low-cost internet connection.

(1) There's usually a small check-mark in that pop-up saying something to the effect of "Don't show me this message again" - check the little thingie before clicking okay out of the box. (2) Control Panel==>Internet Properties==>Advanced tab...scroll down and unclick "Warn if changing between secure and not secure mode"

That doesn't mean anything that is importnat to yoiu. It is just a message that is telling you that you are leaving a secured webiste meaning that website is safe for putting your password in and sign in withou hackers.
