Security - November 2006

It was installed on my computer and ever since, I have trouble navigating with Windows, when I open an additional page by clicking onto something, it causes everything I have open to close automatically. What could be causing this? I hope I have made myself clear, I don't know the proper terms to use in describing this problem.

Can a person who has you sign in to send them email, send an email to your computer and track what you do with that email beyond what you answer them, ie, can they tell if you transfer it from one computer in your house to another one. In other words, is there some kind of tracking that they can have that you do not know about? Some variant of hacking? And if they have a sign in program to receive email from you, does that give them access to your computer? is there some kind of hidden return receipt they get as to what happens to the email they send to you?

For some reason every time I sign on I get a message from Norton that they have stopped someone from changing my home page. When I check details it is something called "about: blank". I have tried removing my temporary internet files and running a spyware search and it still comes up every time I sign on again. Does anyone know how to get rid of this about: blank for good?

i have this dummy virusbuster spyware "i guess" - saying my computer on virus "boarding party", critical system error. when i click on the "ballon", it punch me to his dummy stupid website! how do i remove this dummy thing? - i hope it not cointain keylogger! - i hate kinda spyware! - i use spybot can't find, the ccleaner?!, avast! antivirus can't find .. what is this thing come with agreement? or selfdummy install?, i hope tha virusbuster stop sending his SPAM! Years ago I had a program that would erase all unwanted data on your hard drive by alternately writing ones and zeros several times. The program went throught all the unused memory of the hard drive. The only programs available today are ones that you select a specific file to erase. The ultilitiy of the old erase program was that if you had a computer you were going to give away you could have that dud run and erase everything that was previously on the machine . Any of those old erase programs available today?

Can someone please help me with a problem with my young sons pc.
For some reason the quick start welcome screen has vanished, checked the control panel then user accounts, roughly it says that he loaded a programme and it has disabled it. t mentioned a file with the word gena in it that may be causing the prob. I tried all last night to get it back on but all I get is a blue windows xp box with my sons name and password and a scroll down menu, shut down restart etc.
I am sorry not to give you more info, I am disabled and all this is draining me.

Any help would be most gratefully accepted, and thankyou for your help.

I have purchased Xoftspy and I also have spybot installed and although they find these annoying things and delete them, within two minutes they are popping up again, not only that but they are making my computer run very very slowly. I would be so grateful for any help (In easy language please)

It can't even detect the ShipUp Trojan (sy.exe and infrom.exe), which AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5 did. So far, it's detected *nothing* on my computer. I had Brontok, RavMon... All of these were removed by AVG Free and AVG Anti-Spyware. I'm considering removing it, but AVG Anti-Spyware's resident shield can't be activated, whereas Windows Defender's active. But then again, it's never warned me of anything... Should I remove it or not? My startup's damn slow =(

I can't delete this virus file....

I have a few viruses. A generic backdoor and malware n adware....
i'm trying to get rid of them but expierencing difficulty. I have XP it's a notebook....(that probably doesnt matter lol)
