Firefoxy says "Keep IE"
firefox is way better than IE and (take note Ronney) it has FEWER bugs than IE, But there is no need to delete IE......
You may find the 'odd' site (1 in a million) which will work better with IE than firefox, just as (I discoverd last week) there are sites which work with firefox and IE6, but not with IE7.
I am typing this at work, I am using firefox and I have IE7 as a back up browser for testing

There is no need to remove Internet Explorer. When you install Firefox, it will ask you whether you want to make it the default browser. You can make your choice depending on which you want to use most often. ( The default browser is the one which opens if you click on any web address )
So you can switch between the two. I know a few people who have as many as four or five browsers installed in their systems.

Keep IE until fully installed since Firefox must transfer
some personal data and preferences from you IE. Use
Firefox as default browser (FF system preferences)
and keep IE until you are fully satisfied with FF ( which
I am certain you will be) and only then discard IE by
dumping into Trash and empty trash. Then change
FF from "default" browser to your principle browser.
Get the newly released Firefox 2.0 (final version).
I am certain you will get it all correctly done! Good luck,
Iain

You don't need to remove Internet Explorer. I ran both on my previous computer very easily. Some sites are not viewable in Firefox (BBC and British Airwasy) so I kept IE to view those not compatible with it.

I run Firefox and IE on the same system and use each for different tasks. Better to keep both. Microsoft makes it a bit difficult to dump IE, anyway. I did the same thing a few years ago when Netscape was still significant, and didn't have any problems then either

It is not necessary to remove it. In fact there are some sites which work better with it. (not many, but some)
IE 6 is actually a part of Windows XP, so when it is "removed" you are actually only turning off access to it. Below is the link for the directions on how to do this.

Keep IE , there are some sites hardcored for IE that might not work on Firefox.Think of it as a "just in case "
Why do you want to use firefox?? Opera is better and much faster .It is easily skinnable and you even get widgets.

I didn't and I'm typing this on firefox 2.
Thats one of the advantages of firefox it doesn't affect anything else it's pretty much stand alone everything in the subdir, unlike IE which drills deep into the OS.
You may want to set firefox as your default browser. It should ask if you want to do that when it runs up first time. if not it's a setting in Tools, Options, Main

I heard its best not to uninstall IE as its closely linked to Windows Explorer - your folders! Removing it can cause problems.
You can set Firefox as you main browser, its usually best to have a back up in case of problems anyway.

Keep IE! Firefox is great but sometimes you find a feature on a website that doesn't work in Firefox so it is best to keep IE installed for these occassions.
