I've had my eye on a some Patriot Extreme 2GB DDR2-800 Memory with 4-4-4-12 latency for about $220. But recently, I've come across several performance benchmarks that show that the difference between 667 and 800 is negligible, as well as 4-4-4-12 vs. 5-5-5-15. Is this true? If so, what is the benefit of having this supposedly "better" ram? I can easily get 2gb of PNY DDR2-677 at 5-5-5-15 for a good 70 bucks less. Is it smart to do this?

I don't really overclock, and if I do, its nothing extreme. I have a Core 2 Duo E6400 and the most I plan to overclock it is to 2.93Ghz if at all. Will I be OK with the DDR2-677 ram and what is the difference (if any) in gaming performance?
Thanks

I have a MSI K9N Platinum motherboard, 2 GB's of DDR2 memory, 2 500GB hard drives all less than 2 months old and I have a new AMD 64 X2 5200+ processor. I have not had any problems burning CD's/DVD's in the past until I installed Nero 7. Now every time I try to burn anything my PC shuts down when burning process starts. I disabled my DMA settings to PIO and that stops the shutting down but I obviously can't burn correctly. Here is a list of things I have tried.
-Bought new CPU fan and Arctic Silver thermal grease
-bought new Ultra 550watt power supply
-reinstalled software
-Checked all Driver's, firmware,bios,software,etc...for updates
-Installed new antivirus,spyware software
-Installed system mechanic 7
-Installed info.log's but nothing registers before shutdown
-Bought new surge protector
-System restores
-Nero, MSI, Microsoft help sites
-Made sure I'm not overclocking
-trouble shot all hardware devices
-disabled Nvidia IDE Drivers and only used MS drivers

Any Idea's

I have been running XP home for the past years which contained Service pack 1 which enabled me to use a slave drive of 300GB...

I recently switched to XP Pro, which oddly did NOT come with SP1. I downloaded it, but I still am not able to use my 300GB harddrive without limiting it to 137GB. This is bugging me a lot. For alternatives or any solution, please reply. Thanks in advance :)

Please do not report issues about parts that Dell did not design or make (like HDD, ODD, CPU, RAM, LCD); software issues)

What you can report: motherboard issues, chassis, overheating, etc.

BTW, what R&D does Dell do?

I have an older video card, an ATI All-In-Wonder 128 Pro AGP. I like this card because it has a video in port. I just watch TV and play my XBOX from my monitor. I'm unable to find all the proper drivers that will allow me to do this now. I'd be greatful if someone can tell me where to find them. The ATI site doesn't and the drivers I got from DriverGuide.com work but don't have the TV option.

Many thanks,

I just got a E6400 Core 2 Duo assembled with DDR2 667. But i noticed in some cpu monitor software that it was running at 237 Mhz x9=2129 Mhz instead of the Intel spec of 266x8=2128.
Should I be suspicious? Concerned? Why would a builder do this? I'm not a serious OC'er, but I know a little about it. Should I switch it back to spec? I would hate to ruin this brand new comp if its running with odd settings. Any thoughts?
