I just got a E6400 Core 2 Duo assembled with DDR2 667. But i noticed in some cpu monitor software that it was running at 237 Mhz x9=2129 Mhz instead of the Intel spec of 266x8=2128.
Should I be suspicious? Concerned? Why would a builder do this? I'm not a serious OC'er, but I know a little about it. Should I switch it back to spec? I would hate to ruin this brand new comp if its running with odd settings. Any thoughts?

Under My Computer/Properties it says E6400... can that be changed and therefore not trusted? I thought the System Properties page could not be changed.

You should be OK. Core 2 Duo are made to Handel OC. I run my e6300 at 2.2 with no issues.

The E4300 is a 9x200mhz. sounds like the much cheaper cpu overclocked.

divide the fsb by 4. then take clock speed times 100, then divide by the results of the fsb/4. 1.8ghzx100=1800 divided by 800mhz/4 (200) 1800/200=9.

Use CPU-Z (www.cpuid.com) 200 mhz is way too low, even with the power saving features running. Mine will underclock to 1.1 ghz hen is not being pushed. It's like a laptop chip in that respect.
