well i have purchased a pentium d processor 2.8 ghz with mercury motherboard intel chipset is it right choice ???

It might and it might not.

That motherboard series was made for the old socket 478 processors with the 400mhz front side bus. The processor you have has an 800MHZ FSB. There is a distinct possiblilty that it will not work.

But never fear, you can still use the board by going to ebay and buying one of those older processors for less than 40 bucks. You would be looking for the 1.6 - 2.0 ghz pentium 4 in socket 478
