I have been running XP home for the past years which contained Service pack 1 which enabled me to use a slave drive of 300GB...

I recently switched to XP Pro, which oddly did NOT come with SP1. I downloaded it, but I still am not able to use my 300GB harddrive without limiting it to 137GB. This is bugging me a lot. For alternatives or any solution, please reply. Thanks in advance :)

Get Sp2, or go to your hard drive's manufacturers homepage and get your drivers

this is a a xp problem not just pro but with media center, 64, pro and also vista, no xp supports over 140 gigs so what you have to do and it sucks is partition 140 gigs then make alternate partitions to cover the remaining memory you have but it is only gonna register 141 gigs of initial memory then you have to manually access the remainder of your memory as if you had a second hd installed the alternative is to do what i did i installed my windows vista on a 80 gig hd and installed a 500 gig hd as my secondary so i boot on the 80 but i have all my info , etc on the large hd that i have my computer set to run from once it has started and if you turn on your automatic updates it will automatically detect what your system has versus what it doesnt and instruct you on how to either download and let you choose what gets put on your computer or it will automatically install them while your away , in the early morning or while you compute and oh by the way you have to not only switch your hd to slave but you must have it on it's on sata or ide cable it cant slave from one ide

Get belarc advisor (it's free) and then you'll know about your OS, whether you have sp1, or sp2. If your missing a service pack, get it. If not, try to find a updated driver.

Is it a bogus copy?
You should be able to get SP2 if it is a real version
