I just purchased a cheap pci soundcard from newegg. It is very glitchy. I can't even get it to make solid noise. It is very glitchy and slow. It takes about 20 seconds for the Windows welcome tune to finish. I have installed the drivers and everything. Do any cables need to be hooked up to the card? I thought I just needed to plug it into the pci slot and go. Is it just that it is to cheap of a card (7.99)? Please help

Hi, Last week i was playing a game on my PC (Arma), i left the pc on with the game paused and came back to it an hour later to find it had turned off. When i tried to turn it on nothing happened, their was a flash of light from the cathodes on the front every now and then for a sec but nothing would turn on. I channged the Power Supply Unit (PSU) and everything worked fine untill i tired to play a game last night (the same game) and during the game the pc suddenly went off. with the same symtoms as last time. What could be causing my PSU to blow out? the CPU, motherboard are about 2 months old. i have an IDE and SATA drive, the SATA is about 2 months old. the 3d card is geforce 7800 GTX. 1gig of ram. their was no smell/sign of burning each time. Could it be the game that caused it? Its the only game i have played during so maybe a 3d card problem? The PSU was powerfull enough each time (400w using PSU calculator my computer uses 356w)
any advice?

I love playing games, and i play often, I have changed a motherboard, which is a Foxconn, and put my old P4 CPU inside, and added and Intel CPU fan, and i'm 100% sure that everything is supported, and all the other hardware and Windows are sucessfully installed. I have found out a few problems though, my fan drops from 1950 RPM to 0 RPM suddenly and often, and then returns to normal in less than 2 seconds, but the temperature of my CPU is normal and doesn't seem to heat up, whats up with that and what should i do?

Secondly, while playing games, my CPU and GPU seems to be heating up, The CPU averages to 60 degrees Celcuis while gaming, and my 8800 GTS also is quite hot, is all this normal?

Why does this keep happening and how can I stop it? It does slow down the PC while this is taking place. Please, only qualified answers. Thanks.

I have a wonderful sister who deleted a bunch of stuff, most notably my sound card for my (outdated) Windows ME computer.

I need to find another one - preferably a download that doesn't cost me a bundle-that will work with my computer, and how to install it.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I have a computer with a dvd drive, a dvd burner, and a single hard drive. I only have 2 IDE connections, so I can only have 4 drives total. I want to copy video to the second drive. Should I connect drive C to the primary IDE with one of the DVD drives as a slave, and connect the 2nd hard drive the same way to the secondary IDE,

or,

should I connect both hard drives to the primary IDE, with drive C as the master?

I want to end up with the most efficient setup for each hard drive.

Thanks!

Why? Seriously, people. Why do so few people read the MANUALS that come with their hardware? The same questions flood Yahoo! Answers every day. Something like "hi i just bught my new laptup and i my cnt find com port or whatevr how to fix this" or "my computer is sloooooowwwww.... what do i do".
I don't know if you knew this, but when you buy something, you usually get a manual for no extra charge right out of the box. The point of those manuals is to be READ, but why do so many people just ignore them?

I've been told by some other people that I have to solder one lead at a time, holding the iron no more that 2 seconds (or something like that) and then letting the component completely cool again before trying to do the next lead. Is this true?
