lagging in games badly?

my comp specs are
Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.40 GHz
2.40GHz,768 of RAM
graphic card is NIVIDIA GeForce 4 MX 440,with 128 MB
but i always lag in games that needs only 512 RAM,and im lagging so much.Its like playing WoW and when i move forward,the character moves in slow motion or the games hangs.
can someone please tell me why?

but last time there wasn't any lag

The mx 440 is an older card, I found reviews dating back to 2002. You will need a newer card to support todays game features, and supply them at sufficient speeds....
If you can move up to the GeForceFX 6000 or up series, you will be able to play without those glitches....
