I have a Acer Power s285 and according to Acer my coputer's max ram is 2gb what dicktates how much ram can be used? what would happen if I wanted to put 4 gb of ram on it? If I can is there any thing I need to do special other then the standerd procedures?

In general, the maximum on the motherboard is the maximum that it can use. You can install 4 GB if you want, but it will not be used.

Nope...you're hit, but you can increase your video ram and virtual memory.
