There are tons of freeware programs that have been tested and rated out there w/o laying out any money.Every one works a little different but most of the freeware apps. are small and dont take up much space.A good place to start is Cnet.com and Tucows. I use Ccleaner,Toilet Flush,AVG Antivirus free edition,Noadware, adaware by lavasoft, and PC Bugdoctor(which costs quite a bit) but the others are all free(also Avast Anti Spyware) which is also free.Just do not run more than one anti spyware at a time or they will conflict with each other.

I found this really cool system called tune up utilities. They give you a 30 day free trial for just your e-mail address. It even cleans useless things behind your windows & puts an optimizer behind your screen automatically as well as you can do it manually by 3 buttons. I adore it, especially when I had dial up & an older pc because you need all the help you can get with those babies just to keep moving. It found 446 files that were bad & could be deleted the first swipe & you can shred & recover files with it as well. I can't praise it enough & they don't fill your mail with ads or make you buy anything.
