I'm looking into getting a laptop but I need some information on specs, what is good for a laptop? I definitely want something that will run fast and that is worth my money. I don't want to be fed some bs by the sales person lol.

What's wrong with Dell?

I think they suck but I buy there computers.

I guess some people think Dell is a company where they want your money well to tell the truth they do. But also Dell is a huge company and I mean huge, think about it Dell produces on average 14 computers a minute, that a lot of computers in one day. Big companies make mistakes, some larger then other some smaller then others. But for the people who think Dells service sucks it does, believe me. The reason why Dell is so un-organized, its two words out-sourcing, thats what causes the problem the language barrier and outsourcing. I like Dells products, but I feel sorry for an individual who has troubles with there computer and are forced to wait countless hours for even a simple reply or guess what? to be transferred to a different department. The reason why Dell sucks its because Dell makes Dell suck. I used to work as a Manager in Sales for Dell and believe me I know for fact that is customer relations.

with windows vista on the horizon, would it be wise to wait for it before purchasing? i'm thininking black friday might have some deals. the core duo by intel just came out so i would think intel wouldn't announce another chip for a little while. also, is a dell a good laptop? there is one for $629 core duo, 512mb, 60gb 5200 hd.

I dropped my Dell Inspiron 6000 notebook on the concrete floor and the display went bye bye.

What's the best way/place to replace the display regarding price, quality etc?

My laptop won't work unless the power cord is plugged in and it is elevated (books underneith it or something). Do I need a new laptop battery or is it something else internal?

The laptop is a Dell Inspiron 12500, Model #PPO2L

Both fans in the back stopped turning and a "fan error message" appeared on the screen.

I wouldn't think the PSU is out if the screen is able to display a message.

Is this an easy or difficult job? I am handy with tools....and love to work on computers; but I've never worked on a notebook.

This is my granddaughter's notebook so I don't have it to diagnose.

Any idea what it would cost to have repaired? What about if I did it?

My girlfriend's notebook gives a blank screen at startup even though the hardware and power supply seem to be in working order. After searching here and a few other troubleshooting forums, it appears as though reseating the RAM might help.

Are there any potential hazards to this? Any chance for data loss (we'll back up files anyway)? I'd much appreciate any advice offered.

I have a laptop computer that I have been told needs a new motherboard. I have no idea what this is or how much it might be to fix. Will I lose everything I have saved like files and pictures?

I have a PC; my wife has a mac. My pc (Gateway tablet) is new; her mac i-book is almost 2 years old. We have a wireless network at home, and her mac is about 10x faster than my pc. Also, if my powercord is not plugged in and I am running on battery power, my pc is even slower.

Is there anything I can do (short of scrapping the Gateway) to speed up my connection? Also, why is my pc so much slower when running on battery power, and can I fix that?
