I dropped my Dell Inspiron 6000 notebook on the concrete floor and the display went bye bye.

What's the best way/place to replace the display regarding price, quality etc?

It's a proprietary part, so you can only get that from DELL. But that would cost an Arm and a Leg.

Consider getting a new one. A rugged one might be a good choice for you. But I recommend Toshiba, they are pretty solid.

But they also sell insurance for that. Maybe you should consider that with your next laptop.

I would say send it to Dell, but there is a Online User Manual and Guide for Dell Inspiron 6000 PC Notebook... at http://www.fixya.com/support/p346183-dell_inspiron_6000_i6000s3_pc_notebook

do a search on display, they do not encourage to fix things that you are not familiar with.. good luck

two options:
a) walk into a dell store, or call them on their convenient toll free number. pay the salesperson $200-300 too much for what you get.
b) look up your local pc shop, support the little guy, and get a heck of a deal with local support.
hope this helps!
