Battery Life?
I have purchased a Sony VGN AR11m but when it comes to battery life i have a issue. Its only been on 51 minutes after a full charge and only have 26% left. Also when you run a laptop on a charger does it run up a lot of electricity, more than a pc. Is it cost efficent to just keep a laptop on a power supply when using it. Please Help

Now i have changed the power management setting from Minimal Power Management to Vaio Ultimate Batterey Setting, did that cause some of the problem. Now the only other thing working in the background is norton, should this make a difference

I've been looking for a new laptop, a tablet to be exact. I like the Toshiba M400.It doesn't come with a graphics card just intergrated intel graphics. Although the Mobile Intel 945GM Express Chipset says it features PCI Express* x16 graphics ports. So am i able to add a Graphics card?

I picked up a Satellite P105-S9722 last week, but I haven't opened it yet, as I'm still trying to decide if it is worth it.I think the big thing that concerns me is the 4200rpm 200GB HD.I'm still trying to figure out just how bad the performance of this laptop would be due to the slow hard drive. In a worst case scenario I was thinking of upgrading the hard drive myself, but I can't find any documentation on what is involved in upgrading the hard drive of a P105 (Toshiba's docs only cover memory module upgrades).I'm not expecting the hard drive to perform as well as a 5400rpm or 7200rpm hard drive, but I'm wondering more about what the real world impact will be of a slower hard drive? Just slower loading times, or will it cause real hiccups, etc. while playing games as well? How will games like HL2, Dark Messiah of Might & Magic, Oblivion, WoW, BF2, etc. perform with a hard drive like this?

I reformatted my laptop, not realizing that afterward, I would not be able to reinstall the operating system (Win 98) from the CD that I have. After reformatting, it no longer recognizes the CD.
I have obtained a Win 98 boot disk - but it attempts to reinstall the cd driver from the floppy (I also have a similar DOS boot disk). The problem is that the cd-rom can't be connected at the same time as the floppy - so it keeps saying something about no device found. Obviously if the device isn't connected it can't find it. I have tried copying the files from the A: to the C: drive, but the cd driver installer doesn't automatically run when I reboot, and the program that I think controls this says 'bad package' or something like that when I try to run it. How do I get around this?

I've unplugged and replugged it in so mant times my head is spinning, I've taken the battery out and replaced in every scnerio I could think of and now my lappy just doesn't acnowledge the presence of it. This is starting to drive me mad because whenever I unplug it accidentally, I loose everything. I will select the best answer for whomever comes up with the first thing that works. Oh, one more thing, no, this battery was not on the recall list, I checked.

Everytime I turn it on, that blue screen always popped-out. I tried to go on safe mode, and every mode but still that blue screen pops out. It says I should disable any anti-virus, or other programs? the blue screen says:

"Disable or uninstall any anti-virus, disk defragmentation or backup utlities. Check your hard drive configuration, and check for any updated drivers. Run CHKDK /F to check for hard drive corruption and then restart your computer."Have anyone got this before and how you guys solved it?

it says STOP:0x00000024(0x00190203, 0x82386490, 0xC0000102, 0x00000000)

I also tried to type "CHKDSK /F" but i cant type anywhere.

I have a compaq v2000 computer. It is over 1.5 years old, and I didn't get the extended warranty so it is out of warranty. My computer suddenly and without warning turned off after normal functioning. The only way to get it to turn back on is to take out the battery, hold the power button down for a few seconds, put the battery back in, and then push the power button again. The startup either begins with lights turning on and then turns off, or it boots all the way and then eventually, and randomly, turns off.

This same thing happened to me in January. It was still under warranty and compaq replaced the motherboard. This leads me to believe it is the same issue again.

Should I spend the money on getting it fixed, or even spend the money to find out for sure what is wrong? (Geek Squad said it would cost $200 to figure out what was wrong with it)
