dont think twice.... buy an apple. why?
1) battery life (5 hrs approx)
2) weight (like 4 lbs)
3) Intel core duo

I think the best bang for the buck nowadays is an Acer. They're very nice, very stable, performant and not too pricy.
HOWEVER, if you're a big time gamer, and money is no object, you have to try AlienWare! Wow!

shop the big stores and compare features and prices. also check the warranties too!
