The middle child in Dell's line of basic home laptops, the Inspiron E1505 makes a good home or small-business system if it stays put most of the time, as it's too heavy for regular travel. With the Inspiron E1505, all of the crucial elements are accounted for: you get a comfortable keyboard and touch pad, a decent display, and a very solid collection of basic multimedia features and connections. The base unit starts at approximately $700, but Dell offers a vast array of configuration options for everyone from the most basic Web and e-mail user to digital junkies who require midrange gaming and graphics capabilities. That said, if you're looking for a similar set of features but a larger display, check out the Inspiron E1705; if you're looking for something more portable, the Inspiron E1405 weighs a pound less and offers a very comparable experience, with a slightly smaller display. HP also makes two systems, the Pavilion dv5000 and the Compaq Presario V5000, which offer a comparable experience and often start at lower price points (depending on promotions and coupons). I've got a Dell e1505 and LOVE it. I had some bad experiences with Toshiba in the past, so I tend to stay away from them.

The only thing I didn't like was all the pre-loaded software. I spent probably about 8 hours uninstalling what I don't like and installing what I do.

I really like the integrated bluetooth and the super-bright screen. I went through the dell outlet and saved about $400 over an identical laptop through their normal channels; so I'd recommend checking there for a "Previously Ordered New" laptop.

I sold for Dell and was there for a 9 month position. The 1505 is one of my favorites..... but again - you get what you pay for. Try to get the duo core processor, a gig of ram and the best screen you can get. True life, digital is the best. You only get one screen with a laptop so invest in it. The other thing is to get a good Video CARD, not on-board. With that, you'll be Vista ready if you choose to be. To me there's no difference in brands - I build my own. It's strictly compoents and what's inside. Intel Duo is a good processor and ram is ram....

sounds like your motive force for photographs could have become corrupted. reboot-f8-elect vga mode & homestead windows will attempt to repair your photographs immediately. if this works then replace the photographs motive force. you additionally can hook it to an exterior show screen.
