The DVD+RW discs are the most common format that companys tailor there dvd recorders to use. The - discs can only be written to in one layer, the + discs can be written to in multiple layers, thus making the + discs more reliable and popular.

The +/- are two different formats. At first DVD-R was the most popular and most compatible with DVD players but now all DVD players support both formats

Not absolutely sure but I believe that DVD+ are double density so hold more information.
