You need to go into the laptop bios menu, usually F10 or the Delete key just as the laptop is in the middle of booting. Look around the bios for the boot menu and select "CD-Rom". Save and reboot. Make sure a bootable XP disk is inserted. Be patient, it may take a minute or so to boot the cd. A menu should pop up that starts the install process, which will let you reformat the hard drive. good luck!

use a file erase utility 2 good ones i use are at http://www.webroot.com and http://www.cybersrcub.com With these utilities you can erase your hard drive to an unformated state then reuse as you see fit.
