okay so here's the thing, spycrush.net or .com installed spyware into my computer so i can buy their program to delete, i'm not willing to do that because that's unfair business and shouldnt have been done in the first place. Now i'm stuck with a pc full of spyware and no matter how much i scan and quarantine the backdoor cant be rid of. so now i want to reformat my pc but i dont have the startup disk...so i was wondering if i can use my back up files in my D drive to reboot it instead. I dont know much about computers so if anyone can help me i'd really appreciate it. Thank you!

I need to find a driver for my sound card. In my device manager it just says "multimedia audio controller" with a big yellow question mark under "other devices". How can I find out which driver I need and how to install it?

Not all the time, and I can't figure out why some do and some don't. Part two, I can't delete them while I am in the "select a picture' mode. So I can't get rid of them. (in that area)

I recently had a potential hardware failure and am bracing myself for the possibility of buying an entire new computer. I am a gamer that would utilize heavy processing power.

What would better suit my needs (RAM would be same):
a) P4 with HT 641 - 3.20GHz - 2MB cache - video Shared
b) Pentium D 935 - 3.20GHz - 2 x 2MB - video Shared
c) some AMD model, a few years ago they used to perform better than the equivalant Pentium processor. Not sure it's the same today.

Are e-Machines still to be avoided today? any other factors I should consider?

Please try to explain your reasoning, I want to logically understand why your choice would be best.

I'm leaning on either Intel Core 2 Duos or AMD Athlon 64 X2. I hear Intels are much more better but when I check them up, they are more expensive.

So far the low-ends are

Intel Core 2 Duo 4300

vs

AMD Athlon 64 X2 3600+

is the 4300 REALLY that much different to justify it's extra $50 (really tight budget here).

If anyone has any other budget processor suggestions (multi-core preferred), please say it

I want to replace my AMD sempron 3200+ processer (1.80 ghz) with a Pentium 4 HT processer (2.80 ghz) both are in my motherboard, could they just pop out? and be replaced? there is no latch on them either to unlock them, any ideas?

-both are desktops, the pen 4 came from a HP motherboard and the AMD comes from a compaq motherboard-

I've been wanting to set up a file server to store music and other related stuff, but since I don't want to spend a lot of money, I was thinking to use an old computer, but what should the system specs be for a file server? Also if I were to instead buy a new one, what is the cheapest I could pay to get one/ build one?
