I need to find a driver for my sound card. In my device manager it just says "multimedia audio controller" with a big yellow question mark under "other devices". How can I find out which driver I need and how to install it?

Unfortunately, you need to know what sound card came with the computer- if you have the original packing slip which came with with your system, it might be listed. If your system is a brand-name like IBM or Compaq/HP, just google the model# and find the specifications. Then you'll know which driver you need to download from the manufacturer's website.

If your machine is a generic box, open it up and pulling the soundcard (assuming it's not built-in motherboard sound).
Often the brand/model is printed on the soundcard itself. Of course if you have the original CDs that came with your system, the sound driver disk should be among them.

If you've still got a mystery device at that point, it might cost you less in time & effort to just replace it with a generic $15 sound card from your local computer shop.

You need to know what video card you have and then go to the manufacturers website and download the latest driver for it. Sometimes you can get it from Microsoft, by right clicking on the sound card in device manager selecting properties then select update driver and when it asks it it can check online for a driver click yes.

Yellow exclamation mark means that you have some problem with that driver. I 'd advise you to re-install that driver.
