Sometimes two motherboards have the same chipsets but one has a 478-pin socket and one has a 775-pin socket. Is the 775 board better for some reason? What are the extra pins doing?

my hard disk clicks a lot (like 4 to 6 times every minute) while im playing maplestory. and my ms framerate used to be always 85 but recently its dropping to 42 a lot. does it mean that my hdd is dying?

I think I need to delete XP and re format the HDD. I have the OEM disc and pass code. Do I do it by going in to a CMD window and deleting *.* or re format through the BIOS ( ASUS P5N-E SLI motherboard)..... or what?

When you re install and the system asks for the administrator password, which one would it be? I had turned off the windows login password and I have never set up a password on the security function of the MB but it still asked for admin password.

Need help!.....from somebody who knows what they are doing.

I need a new computer. I've browsed the internet & honestly, don't knw what the best deal is. If u know a lot abt PC's & enjoy helping ppl, I wld appreciate ur help, if u hv time 2 help me find a good deal online.This is a summary of what I want.
~A BUNDLED deal. Preferrably w/a Flat Panel LCD monitor (17" & up would be ideal) & network card.
~The BEST brand of PC (w/the best processor type). I know there r many opinions. I don't know what to believe, since I don't knw mch about pc's.
~At least 512MB or higher
~Include CD-RW (DVD-RW would be a perk)
~I like to play games, so good video card wld be nice.
~I prefer any edition of Windows XP. I DON'T want Vista.
~I would prefer a NEW one (not used or refurbished)
~Under $600.00, as low under that as possible. The lower, the better.

What is their conversion to each other? Where can I find it (that is if you haven't given it to me by answering this, lmao!!) I know I have them in order, from least to greatest... I'm just not entirely aware of the values of each.

i never formated my computer' s hard disk since i purchased some six years back. now it runs very slow and the C drive ( the HDD is parted in to 4, A. B, C and D) is full. presently it runs on WIN NT. the system is 1.1 ghz, 128 RAM and 20 GB HDD

The fan is making lots of noises, and I plan on having someone else install a new fan since I cannot figure out how to get the thing out (I see no screws, latches, and pulling doesn't get it out either). I am not trying to be sold but I would like something of better quality than this. How much should I spend? Are there reliable brand names anyone knows of?

Guys, I really am desperate here.

I opened my computer this morning to find my entire language, basic language (text) to be some kind of giberrish, I tried chaning my text language, and I Mean, there is only "System" and some other werid one.
When I should have all kinds of them, to modify my computer's appearance, you know, in Control Panel.

I need help, it was fine last night, I closed it, opened it now, and it screwed up.

I have several operating systems on the same pc on startup. All are messed up and have problems. How do I remove everything on my computer including the os and files? I also have an ubuntu disk. I only want the Ubuntu os, how do I do that? *Note-Don't say anything about system restore.
