Why is the Pentium D considered worse than Pentium 4 and celeron, and celeron is considered the best for server use? (At least that's what I read on some websites)

Stop reading those websites. A Celeron is basically a cut down version of a Pentium 4, so it is worse. A Pentium D is a dual core version of a Pentium 4, which quite obviously makes it better.

I think you have those kinda backwards. A Pentium D is better than a Pentium 4. And I don't know why servers would want to run Celeron chips (the worst of the bunch).

Celerons have small L2 (and L1?) caches.
Pentium 4 is the same CPU with larger caches.
A Pentium D is a dual core CPU, so it is basically
like having 2 CPUs in 1.
