my windows vista computer that i just got over heats. its annoying me and its a desktop, is it bad or is it broken? i spent 1300 on this thing! its an hp pavilion slimline, and please dont gimme answers saying that i shuda went with another company or that i shuda got a laptop or w/e. Just solve my problem and question please.

I'm very curious about my computer's capabilities, so i would be very grateful if any experienced gamers out there could let me know of some "not so old" & cool titles that my computer can play at enjoyable frame rates in medium to high configuration. Also which game would be the max for my pc i.e beyond which it could only play in low configuration or not play at all.

Pretty much I am sure you can put faster memory into a slower slot and be fine; but what happens when slower memory is put into a faster slot, will the speed automatically decrease, and all will work fine, or will the memory get fried?

When I play my game guild wars, it shuts off, and it says its because of RAM error. I checked my properties and my computer has 0.99 gigs of RAM but guild wars uses 2516 MB of RAM. If im not mistaken, thats over the amount of RAM I have available. So, how do I increase my RAM?

We had a storm lastnight. My mom calls and said her computer wont work. I stopped up and it has the screen up that says your compter had shut down do to a power outage blah blah blah (you know) then it gave you the choices of start in safe mode, start at last good configuration, or start normally and then it has a timer and said windows will start in ** seconds. Well if would hit enter or let the time run down and it would go as if it was going to start and just went back to that screen. So I took the tower and brought it home. The tower will power up but the monitor will not turn on and the lights on the keboard only flash once. So this am I went and got her monitor, mouse and keyboard and same thing. Does anyone know whats up with this?

if a motherboard has FSB 1000MHz and has a cpu that has 2.4 ghz and fsb 2000mhz will the cpu work?. how do i know that?? it seems like the cpu is way to fast for motherboard because the fsb is 2000mhz to 1000 mhz. one more thing how do i know if the motherboard supports a 2.4 ghz cpu or not?

Dell did not erase but Win XP will not start. I want to reload XP but I don't know where to begin. Was the drive damaged by the strong magnetism? He had ten huge woofers rigt next to and under the tower. There was a shelf board between the tower and bottom speakers but these were huge speakers.How do I reload and where do I start? He noticed that the computer was getting slower and some programs were not running efficiently. I need a step by step way to get the computer to accept a reload and I do not have a rescue disc. I have Norton 2007 and the Win XP upgrade from 98 to XP. Can anyone help me?

So basically i got a macbook and i downloaded vista so that i could play some games i like. But i realized that macbook came with a crappy graphic card a.k.a. intel gma 950. I have 7 Compaq System Recovery Windows XP Home Edition CDs, and I was trying to leave my computer exactly as it came when I bought it. This is not the first time I do this and everything had gone well, except when I get to CD#6 it doesn't read it and it will not let me go any further. If I turn it off, it will give me a black screen giving me an error and to press ctrl alt del but it still won't do anything. I know it erased my OS already. Once I restarted it tells me to insert the cd#6 again but again it won't read it. What can I do to at least have my desktop working again. Help!!!!!
