Let's say I am working in my computer and without shutting it down I insert a memory DIMM, I am wearing rubber shoes and I am not grounded.

I think that the motherboard will not like it; It is not expeting any memory on an other slot than the one discovered during boot time.
In addition, I deeply think that the memory will get lost in the operation due to electrical potential difference.

I don't think I have ever seen that done or attempted to do it(not the brightest thing in the world) I would say the computer might freeze up until you reboot and you may damage the ram I am not sure but more importantly working on a computer while it is running can be quite harmful I have got hit a few good times by electricity for forgetting basic safety rules whiles working on a computer I do not recommend to ever keep a computer running while you are working on it

Yea why would you try that,you would have to reboot the computer anyway to get the memory to work anyway.

WhY would you do that? IF you do, it wont be covered under warranty. You could fry ramm, mb, and hose what ever ap youre running

that is the best way to get rid of your computer. if you don't want to have it. give it away.

if you want to fry it, and maybe yourself will get a load of it.

probably fry the motherboard and the DIMM.

Why would you even think of doing that?
