I used to use a program called Acronis partition expert 9, I could change the partition size and not loose any data. I'm trying not to have to re format re install. Are there any fully function demos or partitioning software available. Acronis changed there trials to non functional, which is totally stupid, Any suggestions?

I currently have the following

p4 running at 2ghz
1 gb of dram memory
ATI graphics card ALL-IN-ONE-WONDER 64MGB
1LG DVD burner, and one pioneer DVD burner
2 hard drives, one at 80gbs, the other at 150gbs
I have installed recently Adobe Premiere Elements 3

I have a tower, with a new 450 watt power installed.

I really want to keep my Video Editing program, but don't know if I will run into installation problems, due to required codes on internet, have copied these codes, and can reentire them, just don't know if it will work.

Can I upgrade the mother board with a dual processor, and add 2 mgbytes of ddr2? If so which processor is better for video editing AMD 64X2 or going with Intel dual processors. AMD seems to have a faster bus 2000???? Am I better buying a whole new system, and selling my old one. I just hate reloading all my video software.??????

after moving i hooked my computer up, same as before, but now the monitor says it's working fine & to please connect it to the computer. when i turn the tower on, it beeps (didn't used to) and the light comes on & i can hear the fan running. what could be wrong? could it be something as simple as getting too dusty inside or did something get knocked loose in the move? i checked all the connections & wires and everything looks like it's in order. help!

Ive been wanting to upgrade my computer for a while to play the latest games, but im not exactly tech savvy so im having alot of trouble deciding the best route to take. I have a Gateway pc and my system specs off of www.systemrequirementslab.com are:

- CPU: 2 processors running - Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.40GHz
- CPU Speed: 2.39 GHz Performance Rated at 3.59 GHz
- System Ram: 510.7 MB
- Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 440 (GeForce4 MX 440)

From what i can tell i am in dire need of a new graphic card but i am confused about which to buy. I think my computer has an APG Motherboard, but i dont know how to check for sure. It seems the best APG card is the Geforce 7800 gs, but there are alot of different versions and i dont know which is right. Also Ive read that i need a certain amount of power watts to run the card and i dont know how to tell if my pc is compatable. Any and all help would mean alot. Thanks.

A question for you IT Support folks.

I am attempting to transfer files from my old PC to my new PC. Both PC's are desktops.

Windows XP has instructions but it involves using a Serial cable between the two PC's.

My old PC has an available serial connector. My new PC does not. It only has USB ports and a 10/100 NIC connector.

My Question: Can files be transferred from the old PC to the new PC using a Cat 5 cable between the two NIC connectors?

If so do I simply use the XP wizard and proceed using the Cat 5 cable as if it were a Serial cable?

Your Help is greatly appreciated.

HI,firstly i want to say thanks for the users who helped me to solve my last problem i.e of realtek sound card...
Here my second problem :(

IM USING WINDOWS 98 SECOND EDITION (V4.10.2222 A)
MY SYSTEM,WINDOWS AND DEVICES ARE IN PERFECT WORKING CONDITION BUT THERE IS A MINOR PROBLEM
OF SHUTDOWN...(remember it happens after applying unofficial win98se Service Pack 2.1a)
WHEN I TRIED TO SHUTDOWN OR RESTART MY PC THEN SYSTEM HALTED (HANGED)
PLZ REMEMBER THAT THIS PROBLEM WAS NOT OCCURED WHEN USING WINDOWS 98SE WITHOUT UNOFFICIAL WIN98SE SERVICE PACK 2.1A...
HEY LISTEN IF HAVE FOUND A ANOTHER REASON COULD YOU GUIDE ME THAT AM I RIGHT OR WRONG,.....HERE IS THE REASON,
BEFORE SP 2.1 THERE IS A "DISABLE FAST SHUTDOWN" OPTION IN MSCONFIG (SYSTEM CONFIGRATION UTILITY) THIS OPTION WAS ENABLED THEN AFTER INSTALLING SP 2.1 THIS OPTION DISAPPEARS IT MEANS THAT MY PC CAUSE A PROBLEM WITH FAST SHUTDOWN CAPABLITY CAN YOU TELL ME IS THERE IS ANY SOLUTION THAT CAN I DISABLE FAST SHUTDOWN.

When i turn on my computer it usually goes to a screen where it says "press DEL to enter setup" and stuff like that, then to the windows xp loading screen. Now when i turned it on it stays frozen on that first startup screen and i cant push or click anything. I can hear the computer running like it normally does. What could have caused this problem?

I am in the market for a new computer for my kids to use at home (three kids in grade school). My old computer is 7 years old so I just need a good PC that the kids can use to do school work and basic games. Going to the computer sites there are a lot of options. What should I consider as mandatory basics considering I want this computer to last me a few years.

Thanks for the input!

Recently my computer is acting all sorts of weird. It started with my computer not saving my clock settings, then progressed to Windows Explorer not booting up when the computer did, then Windows XP would get stuck in a loading loop...and now my computer wont stay in sleep mode.

Is it time for a windows Reinstall, or just a new CMOS battery?
