I've looked around at different websites, but I am unsure what type of videocard/setup would be good for playing games, streaming videos, etc. Please help!

New-ish HP desktop. Neither the DVD-ROM, nor the HP CD WRITER will open. There is NO CD or DVD inside. I have tried the pinhole method, and it has the same result: light comes on, attempt to open, even slight movement. Still won't open... Any ideas?

I'm having some trouble with my windows XP taskbar...?
i'm running a Windows XP Pro (SP2) computer, and this morning, my mom was on it and she made somehow the min, max and close icons up top of webpages really small I fixed that but now my start menu icons (after you click programs) are bigger then they were and same with my task bar icons. You can see the pixels of the task bar icons. What do I do to fix this?

I have an hp pavillion 751N and the hard drive died. I removed it and want to buy another one. Can anyone recommend a decent one at a reasonable cost? It's going to be used by my kids for kid games and light internet use. I called HP and of course they want me to purchase one from them.

I have a Compaq with Windows 98 and it takes forever to bring up pictures I have taken with my digital camera. I am trying to run Adobe 6.0 on it as well to edit them (which lags often). I have 184MB RAM with a AMD-K6 3D processor. Is it time to retire this one and get a new computer or would I be able to upgrade it far enough (and cheap enough) to warrant the effort? Any suggestions would be helpful! Thanks!

I have several older model computers (but not all of the parts are with them) that I'd like to try to use the parts from one to get at least one or two up and running.

But the one thing that confuses me is those little wires (most are twisted as a group) that are attached to the case but connect to the mobo. One is the power button, one is the speaker, one is the HDD LED, one is the Keylock (whatever that is)?? and and the others are I don't know?

How does one determine the polarity of these wires if they're not marked on the wire or the mobo....especially the power button? What about polarity for the HDD LED?

This is confusing and prevents me from making a move to build a computer from parts basically......I need to know what goes.

The computers are too old to find anything on the web about the mobo's so I'm out of luck there.

What do I have to be concerned about as I try to understand what wire goes to what mobo connection?

I want my computer to appear like the ones in the "24" movie by Jack Bauer. So I am thinking if there's ever a way to PUT SOUND when a new window is open.

Like for example, when I am searching for something and a WINDOW opens, I want it to have a SOUND. :)

Do you know what to do?

Thank you :)

Got a computer built for me in Vancouver, late Sept. 05, all new parts. It gave out late October of 06. Any idea on warranty for the hard drive? Because my system itself only had a 1 yr warranty; I was hoping the drive might have a longer one if I go through Samsung??

I'll be upgrading my PC and I've been considering what to do with my old CPU casing since I'll be replacing everything inside it. My old motherboard was an Asus ATX board, but I'll be using a microATX-size board once I upgrade. From what I've been told, the new processor I'm planning to mount will require a 500W PSU. Can I still reuse my casing if I just change the PSU?
