Honestly these computers are about the same thing. One has a slightly better Processor (the Pentium 4) but the other has a bigger HDD. Additionally the one has a Media Card Reader which could come in handy....

My advice to you though is simply this...Find someone in your area that knows how to build custom computers, and have them configure a PC for about the same amount as these two computers in questions with an AMD processor instead of Intel. You will find that the performance is Enhanced.

What is the price difference?

The second one has a Celeron Processor - never _EVER_ buy a celeron processor. They run at about half the speed they say they do, and are subject to constant crashes. You will be much much happier with the Pentium 4 processor.

With either PC, I would upgrade to 1024MB (1GB) of RAM - you can probably pay extra up front, or just add it yourself after you take it home. You may also want to consider upgrading to an actual video card instead of onboard graphics, the difference is quite staggering.

It depends on the usage. If you have processing intensive programs, stay away from the CELERON processor in #2 above. Celeron is only good for lowering the price of the computer and that is it. It runs like less smoothly, so I would have to say #1 is the better machine.

MY ADVICE IS THAT YOU PICK AN AMD PROCESSOR, SEMPRON IS OK.....ATHLON IS BETTER, THEY ARE CHEAP BUT YOU WILL GET BETTER PERFORMANCE AND RELIABILITY THAN ANY OF THOSE TWO MENTIONED ABOVE; VERY IMPORTANT.

Then, you should get more RAM, 512 is outdated, get atleast 1GB and there will be a big performance diffrence. u can keep 512 if ur only going to use the computer for checking e-mails and small stuff like that.

and personally i'd get a better graphics card, it would make movie experiances better, but if u strictly only want to use the computer for small little things than i guess u wont need one.

if ur thinking of gaming then u should get a decent proceesor like AMD Athlon 64 x2 3800+ dual core, atleast 1GB Ram, and a decent graphics card like NVIDIA 6 or 7 series......

They are very similar, I would get a Pentium chip over Celeron however consider getting a dual core (or Intel Core 2) chip, there is little extra cost and they are quicker.

definatly go for the first one, celeron processors are crap.. pentiums are great but intel came out with a new Core 2 Duo, which is the top of the top of the line... its a step up from pentinum but DONT buy a DELL!!!

each has at least one good thing but the second is probaly better since i do not see onboard video(i dont like onboard video its not very efficient), personaly i would need to know the costs of iach to know if either was a rip off,
either way building one by choosing individual parts may be better than both of those options and Dont go thru dell

Not a great deal to choose between them.Pentium processor probably best but will depend on your usage.Get what upgrades you can afford particularly more RAM.

well from those two computers, i would recemend you to get the second choice.... BUT if you wanna buy a new computer i am prity sure that u wanna use it for good 3 4 years, so i recemend u to buy intel core 2 duo, with 2G ram or higher....

does no. 1 come with spkrs, cd / dvd burning software, printer, keyboard, mouse, cd or dvd rewriter (to burn cd's/movies), cd or dvd rom drive (to play cd's/movies), antivirus software, internet security software/firewall?
if not - then go with no. 2 - only thing 2 has is a little more hard drive
