Streaming videos has only a little to do with your own system. There are things that go into making a streaming video run without any problems. They are : your Internet connection speed, the speed of whatever server is uploading the video to the net, and of course, your computer's video cards and processor and such.
Now, on to Media Center PCs. I am an avid fan of AMD Processors. It all depends on what you want to spend. If you want the whole shebang, and don't mind dropping a few extra dollars, I'd recommend Alienware. The best setup would be Dual SLI Video cards (makes the game graphics as out of this world as they were programmed to be) as for processors, anything Dual Core is wonderful! It depends on who you talk to as to which is best, but I prefer AMD, as I've had my Alienware Aurora for a year now, and I've NEVER had a single problem with anything. I have 5 different fans (it is a laptop), and have never had it overheat, or shut down from overheating. However, if you're short on cash, and still need an amazing setup, I would still recommend the AMD processor, but instead of dual SLI cards, I'd get a NVidia GeForce 8800. There are several options, and I would research them a bit, but these are the best cards and processors on the market. Good brand names include Dell, HP, Compaq, and Alienware. Have fun searching, and I wish you luck on finding a computer that's just right for you.

we got a eMachines E4036. it has xp media center edition 2005 (XPMCE2005), service pack 2, networking, all the usual.
it has a remote and a TV tuner. however, it didnt have built in digital, which most computers dont. the digital TV cards are £50 from PC World, but they are very good.
also, if you do get a computer and upgrade any hardware, do not sell the original hardware until the warranty period is over. if you send a pc back with your own hardware it often viods the warranty. i find puttin the original hardware in and doin a factory reset leaves em non the wiser.
what the companies dont know wont hurt.
either way xp media center is great, and this computer is fab. highly recommended buy!
